Pacific Gas & Electric's Smart Meter rollout was hindered by the hottest summer on record, a rate increase, and an underestimation of how much customer outreach was needed. Our challenge was to not only show people the benefits of the Smart Grid, but to also get them to consider that it might be a good thing – for them, for their families, for California – and to ultimately look to PG&E
as their trusted energy advisor.
To build trust with PG&E, we needed to get people engaged and thinking about their role in California’s energy future. We reached out to them at places they’d be more willing to have the conversation
with us – at events and out in their communities – and made it worth their time.
The Power a Brighter Future mobile tour brought Smart Grid and Smart Meter technology to customers in a friendly and engaging way, showing them firsthand how these advancements
can help save energy and money.
